FAQ
Freelance contract questions
- Is a freelance contract legally binding?
- Generally yes, once both sides agree to the terms and sign. This tool produces a complete, editable agreement, but you are responsible for reviewing it for your situation. It is not legal advice.
- Does this make me an employee or a contractor?
- The agreement states you are an independent contractor, not an employee — which affects taxes, benefits and who controls the work. Whether that classification holds also depends on how you actually work, so review it for your situation.
- Who owns the work I create?
- You choose. By default, the client owns the final deliverables once they pay in full, while you keep your own pre-existing tools and templates. You can switch it so you keep ownership and license the work instead.
- Can I keep a deposit and charge for revisions?
- Yes. You can require a deposit before starting, set how many revision rounds are included, and add an optional late-payment fee and a cancellation clause.
- Is this legal advice?
- No. Free Contract Generator provides self-help templates and general information, not legal advice, and no attorney-client relationship is created. Consult a licensed attorney for advice about your specific situation.
