- What contracts can I generate?
- NDAs (mutual or one-way), residential leases and month-to-month rental agreements, bills of sale (vehicle, boat or general), employment contracts, freelance and contractor agreements, services agreements and loan agreements — with more types added over time.
- Are the generated contracts legally binding?
- A contract is generally binding once the parties agree to its terms and sign it, and it meets the basic legal requirements that apply to it. This tool produces a complete, editable document, but you are responsible for reviewing it for your situation. It is not legal advice.
- Do you store the contracts I make?
- No. Your answers and the documents are generated entirely on your device and never uploaded to us. A draft is saved in your browser’s local storage so you can come back to it; clearing your browser data removes it.
- Word or PDF — which should I download?
- Use Word (.docx) if you want to keep editing or add letterhead; use PDF for a clean copy to sign. Every document gives you both.
- How do I write a contract?
- A workable contract answers six questions in order: who the parties are (full legal names and addresses), what each side promises, what each side gets in return, when and how it happens (dates, amounts, payment method, deadlines), what happens if it goes wrong (how it ends, what counts as a breach, who pays what), and which state’s law governs it. Write it in plain language, put every number and date in explicitly instead of leaving it understood, have both sides sign and date it, and give each side a copy. You do not need legal drafting language for it to count — you need terms specific enough that a stranger reading the document a year later could tell whether they were met. That is what this generator does: it asks those questions and assembles the clauses from your answers.
- Does a contract need to be notarized?
- Usually not. Most contracts are binding once the parties sign them, and a notary adds nothing to that — notarization verifies who signed, not whether the agreement is enforceable. A few specific documents do carry a notarization or witnessing requirement under state law: real-estate deeds, some vehicle title transfers, wills and powers of attorney are the common ones. Check the rule for your document type and your state, and where a signature is likely to be challenged later, notarizing is cheap insurance even when it is not required.
